Helena Aurora Range Camping
What is the Helena Aurora Range?
The Helena Aurora Range (Bungalbin) is a jewel in the Great Western Woodlands. This camping experience is the perfect opportunity to see for yourself why this pristine and unique part of the world is worth protecting, and why we’re calling for the Range to become a national park.
It is approximately six hours drive from Perth: four hours to Southern Cross and then two hours north to the range—the last hour of which is on a good dirt road.
The Range is characterised by its large banded ironstone rocks, stretches of eucalypt woodland and tall, inland whitegums. From the top of the range, visitors are treated to unspoilt views of the Great Western Woodlands as far as the eye can see.
These low, scattered ranges emerge from a mostly flat, wooded landscape and are ecologically and culturally significant. Because of their ancient isolation, most of the ranges in this area are home to rare, locally endemic species of flora and fauna.
